Van Rensselaer Lower Manor House

The Van Rensselaer Lower Manor House is one of if not the earliest house in Columbia County. It has been in the same family since it was built in 1685. The earliest part is stone and in the rear of the house, the frame portion now in the front of the house was built in 1790 and the two were later connected. The barn was built in 1825. There is a huge amount of original detail throughout the house, the fireplace’s will need to be rebuilt if someone wants to use them. The house over the years had been set up for three separate families although you can easily travel through the entire house internally. Two additional kitchens have been mostly removed and the house could easily be returned to single family living as it should be.
